Memorial service for LaVergne G. Bestler (Turner) 85 is 11 AM Saturday March 9, 2013 at the Kristan Funeral Home 219 W. Maple Ave. (Rt. 176 2 Blocks West of Rt. 45) Mundelein. Visitation is 10 AM until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. LaVergne was born to Robert and Gertrude Turner on March 18, 1927 in Oak Park, IL and died February 27, 2013 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was married in 1946 to her husband John until his death in 1985. LaVergne and John moved to Mundelein with their family in 1954. She was employed at Condell Medical Center in insurance and enjoyed her career prior to her retirement. Her interests included first and foremost her family. LaVergne was artistic and skilled at painting in watercolors and in ceramics. She also enjoyed swimming and playing gin rummy with any family member who would take her on. (She usually won). Before the passing of her husband John, they enjoyed their time together in Ephraim, WI, and LeHigh, FL. She is survived by her loving children: Nancy Poole, Carol Bestler and John (Charlene) Bestler; grandchildren: Mark (Lisa) Zeigler, Kristin Blue, Lisa (Jeff) Sparks, Carrie (Phil) Cole, Sarah (Michael) Croak, John (Dana) Bestler, Valerie (Jeff) Eaton and Courtney Bestler; great-grandchildren: Wyatt, John, Adam, Kylie, Brooke, Mackenzie, Hadley, Owen, Grace, Cody, Stephen, Charles Turner, Carlie and Paige, and by her sister Dorothy Zielke. She was preceded in death by her loving husband John and her brother Robert. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in LaVergne’s name to the Wounded Warriors Project or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
